Our Escape & Secret Passageway

Thursday evening we escape the security of our compound (I know it's for our safety - yet, at times the gated, walled, 24-7 surveillance feels more like keeping us in, than keeping others out!) for a brief walk in our neighborhood.

rough passageway leading away from our 'home'
Beautiful wild flowers brighten our walk

It's quite lovely. Our neighbors are friendly - especially as we wander down the "ally" that turned out to be someone's home! In traditional Kenyan fashion, they welcomed their unexpected guests, stopped their work and opened the secret garden passageway allowing us to slip back to the safety of our home alongside corn and wildflowers.

This looks like an ally to me...
Our secret passage getaway!
what's that? We're in your backyard? (Americans!!)

Quite a different "ally" than those I typically encounter in New York!
