Taking Tea

We began our morning "taking tea" (in Swahili, "kunywa chai") at Pangani.  We are quickly loving the Kenyan practice of taking tea at 10a and 4p each day.

It’s a quite a process, first there’s hand washing - a group activity - as there’s no running water (let alone warm water).

 then making the chai...

then serving one another chai...

Then, the bonding, laughing, sharing, connecting.

It's a lovely break and forces a reflective pause, good conversation with our team and really great chai and benghazi (Kenyan doughnuts, I’m fairly confident these are NOT good for you, at all, yet somehow that’s lost in our experience and we eat them up!).

This is practicing hospitality, it warms you to the core!
